This month marks my one-year anniversary of being a mom (well, make that one year and 9 months if you include the nauseous, tired and big as a house portion). And like everyone says, it has been the most awesome, yet exhausting year I have ever experienced! Though being a parent is rewarding in a million ways, like those killer smiles and giggles, the heart melting cuddles, and getting to watch your little one grow, mature, and navigate through life lessons, it is also just plain hard. So far this year I have dealt with a natural birth (ouch!), sleepless nights, a baby that refused to latch, teething, Roseola, feelings of utter boredom while being completely overwhelmed at the same time, and the whole gamut of pee, poop, barf, snot, etc. just to name a few.…..and we haven’t even hit the terrible two’s yet! Phew, it gets easier right?
I think one of the hardest things I have had to deal with though was being sick and still having to be a mom. Even though all I wanted to do was curl up in bed, I had to suck it up and feed, carry, change and entertain my baby. I have never wanted to get over a sickness quicker in my life. I was doing everything I could think of to kick that bug, including going to see all my lovely co-workers. As hard as it was to find the time for myself, I always felt better after getting a treatment.
I found out that the only thing harder than taking care of kids, is trying to be a good caretaker when sick, in pain, stressed out, or worn out. That’s why this month OAP is offering our $10 special to all of the parents, nannies, and daycare/preschool teachers out there. We want you to feel your best, so you can be the best for the kiddos in your life. Whether you are a new parent like myself, a multigenerational veteran, or spend your days rearing other people’s wee ones, it’s time to kick up your feet, relax, and feel better….you deserve it!
