After much consideration, I have decided to transition from a part-time punk to a substitute at OAP. As I embark on a new chapter in my journey, I find myself filled with a deep sense of gratitude and warmth for the incredible community at Oakland Acupuncture Project. The past 10 months have been a transformative experience, shaping me both personally and professionally in ways I could have never imagined.
Each day spent at OAP has been a testament to the power of community, healing, and compassion. My love for community acupuncture has only grown, and it is with this passion that I take on new challenges and opportunities.
In March, my private practice was accepted into the Transgender District’s Entrepreneur Accelerator Program. This remarkable opportunity allows me to expand my Tuesday Community Acupuncture Clinic to two days a week as well as to broaden my individual services, including cupping and reiki/energetic healing. This program has provided me with the resources and support to truly make a difference, especially in the lives of BIPOC and the Trans/Queer community. Additionally, in May, I was honored to be offered the role of community acupuncture resident at APTP’s The People’s Clinic. This clinic is an abolitionist healing and recovery space dedicated to supporting impacted families, frontline organizers, and the local West Oakland neighborhood. It is a privilege to be part of such a transformative initiative. Check out their landing page for more information: thepeoplesclinic.janeapp.com
While my time at OAP may be less frequent, my connection to this incredible community remains unbreakable. I hope to continue crossing paths with you all, providing care and support whenever our paths align. You can stay updated about which days I will be working at OAP by following my Instagram account, @devon.m.burton, or joining my newsletter, DevonMBurton.com.
To the OAP Community, words cannot express the depth of my gratitude for the impact you have had on my life. You have been a constant source of inspiration, and I carry the lessons you have taught me into this new chapter. Thank you for your unwavering support and hope to see you all again very soon.
With love and appreciation,
Devon
